Our
Mission Statement
The mission of Coon Rapids United Methodist Church is to
introduce unbelievers to Jesus, and to lead believers to become disciples of
Christ.
Our Vision
Our vision is to become a center of disciple making.
Not limiting our vision to one neighborhood, we seek to minister to people of
many communities, becoming a church that people are drawn to because of our joy,
love and faith. This is a vision of a church that through God’s Word produces
strong, joyful Christians who apply their faith to daily living. It is also a
vision of a people who not only know Jesus, but who follow Him. Such a church
is not limited by location, finances or any constraint other than the will of
God. We commit ourselves to becoming such a church through the power of Jesus
Christ.
To do this we
shall…
-
Be grounded in the Bible
and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all decisions, discovering the power
of obedience to God’s word.
-
Build our ministries upon the spiritual gifts of our
members, expecting and empowering all members to use their gifts in ministry as
disciples of Jesus.
-
Recognize the sins and shortcomings in each of us, and
embody Christ-like forgiveness and God’s unconditional love.
-
Dedicate a percentage of our budget and resources each
year to actions specifically geared to introducing Jesus to
non-believers.
-
Provide high quality, positive, uplifting worship.
Services shall both praise God and lead people into a deeper relationship with
the Lord. Our services shall be designed to help both guests and members to
feel welcome and at home in the church and with God. We shall promote the
precept that worship is something we bring to church to honor and glorify God ,
rather than merely something we come to receive for ourselves.
-
Provide an abundance of educational and small group
opportunities for growth as disciples and for building connections with our
fellow disciples.
-
Emphasize, utilize and celebrate the many musical gifts
that we have received from God.
-
Invest in training top-notch, Spirit-led
leadership.
-
Place a priority on hands-on participation in local and
global mission service to encourage and enable people to serve Jesus by helping
others.
-
Provide support for members and non-members in their
times of need.
-
Invest faithfully in the staff, equipment, building and
support systems necessary to fulfill this and all God’s vision for this
congregation.
-
Be humble, confident in God, in awe of His power,
seeking His love and experiencing great joy in serving Jesus.
-
Laugh a lot.
-
Pray always.
-
Praise God in all things.
Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
(Matthew
28:19-20)
