Worship Music Leader for New Andover Site

Job Description:  

The Worship Music Leader will, in direct consultation with our Music Director, give local oversight, development, and help with planning of music ministries at our Andover location. This position will work closely with the Worship Committee, the Pastor and the Associate Pastor in planning and leading worship at the Andover location as well as helping to develop new music ministries in Andover. This is a new ministry and a new position, so there will be considerable transition, especially during the initial six months.

Qualifications:

 • Exhibits and communicates a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ. • Creative, flexible, and passionate about music ministry. • Able to collaborate with and give direction to meet the needs of growing music ministries. • Ability to collaborate with growing multi-site congregation (one church, two locations)

Responsibilities: 

• Provide keyboard accompaniment on Sunday mornings for congregational hymns, preludes, and praise music, occasionally filling in with special music as needed (vocal accompaniment is desirable but not required).

• Work with the Music Director to help coordinate participation of musicians in Sunday morning worship.

• Work with the Praise Music Leader to help coordinate musicians and musical repertoire.

• Help with recruiting new participants for involvement in music ministry groups.

• Lead brief prayers on Sunday mornings

• Arrange substitutes to cover absences during Sunday Morning worship.

Required Skills:

• Piano proficiency; ability to read music, chords, and sight read

• Ability to work with a wide variety of musical genres, but especially traditional, contemporary and sacred music.

• Organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal).

This position has potential to grow into other areas of music leadership, such as directing musical groups, depending on the gifts and passions of the applicant.
